What do we do?

The Genomics and NGS Facility (GENGS) at Centro de Biología Molecular Severo Ochoa (CBMSO) offers services to support your projects from experimental design to data analysis. Whether you are a CBMSO member or an external user from a public or private institution we will be happy to help you!

Our Facility is divided into two sections, the Genomics wet lab and the NGS dry lab.

For all services provided, a summary report with the analysis performed is delivered at the end of the project.

Both the Genomics and NGS section are actively involved in seminars, courses and workshops.

Genomics section

Provides resources and services for DNA and RNA analysis. It is equipped with tools for nucleic acids extraction, the evaluation of RNA integrity, the amplification of DNA and RNA (standard PCR and RT-PCR as well as qPCR, RT-qPCR and digital PCR), and other applications. It also supports internal and external users in the experimental design step and with the specific training for the correct use of the shared equipment.

NGS section

Offers a full bioinformatic service for standard or custom NGS data analysis. It includes experimental design, DNA-seq and RNA-seq analysis (de-novo genome and transcriptome assembly, variant calling, differential gene expression, ChIPseq and metagenomics, among other types of NGS applications) and statistical analysis of the data. Since the Facility does not have any sequencing platform, we outsource and coordinate the library prep and sequencing steps with a specific bunch of previously tested high quality external providers. Thus, we offer our expertise and state-of-the-art knowledge about different NGS platforms and sequencing technologies to answer the biological question of interest.
