Spectrophotometry

Nanodrop ND-1000

Commercial house: Thermo Scientific

Units: 2

Location: Rooms 130 and 430

This equipment allows the user to perform spectrophotometric measurements in a wide range of wavelengths without using cuvettes. It only requires a sample volume of 1-2 μl (depending on the type of sample). The software associated with the equipment incorporates a series of specific applications for the type of measurement that you want to perform (nucleic acids, proteins at 280 nm, Bradford, Lowry, quantification of fluorescent labels, etc). Small in size and easy to use, it allows the user to measure a large number of samples in a short time. The information is transmitted to the computer through a fiber optic cable and the results are obtained in formats that are fully compatible with conventional computer media for storage and handling.

Available applications on the device:

  • Nucleic acid
  • MicroArray (measurement of fluorescent nucleic acid labeling)
  • UV-VIS (ultraviolet-visible)
  • Protein A280
  • Proteins & Labels
  • Protein BCA
  • Protein Lowry
  • Bradford Protein
  • Cell Cultures

The NanoDrop One does everything that its predecessors can and more, including: integrated instrument control via a touch screen display, a broader dynamic range (up to 27,500 ng/μL dsDNA), expanded connectivity and data management options, and enhanced sample analysis and technical support with Acclaro Sample Intelligence technology. The patented sample retention system enables the measurement of highly concentrated samples without the need for dilution. The NanoDrop One system comes with preloaded software and a touchscreen display.

These are the applications available on the device:

  • Nucleic acid
  • Microarray
  • Protein A280 and A205
  • Protein Pierce 660
  • Protein Bradford
  • Protein BCA
  • Protein Lowry
  • Proteins and labels
  • OD600
  • Kinetics
